Practical guide

Price products without forgetting fees

A price is more than materials.

Step 1

Add materials, labour, overhead and packaging. Account for shipping and a realistic returns reserve once.

Step 2

Use your own provider’s verified percentage, fixed fee and fee-tax schedule. The default calculator inputs are illustrative.

Step 3

Select whether the selling price includes product tax. The online payment service charge is calculated from what the customer pays; the illustrative platform fee uses revenue excluding product tax.

Step 4

Compare estimated profit and break-even. These are pricing estimates, not a tax filing calculation or promised realized profit.

What this looks like in an ordinary working day.

Materials and tools for planning an Indian maker’s product costs
“₹499 selling price − costs − estimated provider/platform fees = estimated profit.”

The result is only as useful as its inputs. Your labour and packaging belong in costs; delivery must not be counted twice. Check fixed fees as well as percentages, and use the tax-inclusive setting that matches the price you are evaluating.

A checklist you can use beside the form.

  1. Record materials, labour, overhead and packaging.
  2. Choose the correct product tax basis.
  3. Use verified percentage/fixed provider fees.
  4. Account for delivery and a realistic reserve once.
  5. Compare break-even and profit scenarios, then choose your own price.

Before you share your product.

Save a draft while the details are changing. Before publishing, read the product as a customer would: what is included, what it costs, which choices matter and what happens next.

If you need help, describe what you wanted to do, the page you were on and what happened. You do not need technical vocabulary. Leave passwords, provider keys and private customer details out of the message.

A good next step

Your next customer shouldn’t have to wait for your website.
